Luke Donald has been named captain of Team Europe for the 2025 Ryder Cup, which will be held at Bethpage Black in New York. The announcement comes as the European team looks to defend their title after a dominant victory in 2023.
Donald, who served as vice-captain in the previous Ryder Cup, brings a wealth of experience to the role. The qualification process has been updated to include both automatic qualifiers and captain's picks, with emphasis on recent form and Ryder Cup experience.
"I'm honored to lead Team Europe in what promises to be an incredible Ryder Cup," Donald said. "Bethpage Black is a challenging venue, and we'll need to be at our best to compete against a strong American team on their home soil."
The qualification period begins immediately, with players earning points through major championships, PGA Tour events, and European Tour competitions. The team will be finalized in August 2025, just weeks before the matches begin.
